Express Checkout in PrestaShop — Faster Orders [2026]

Express checkout shortens ordering from 5 steps to 1–2: a "Buy Now" button, one-click payments (BLIK, Click to Pay, Apple Pay) and skipping registration. In stores with 70% cart abandonment it is one of the most effective conversion changes. Implementation costs 800–3,000 PLN net, and PrestaShop 9.2 has a native one-page checkout.

Express checkout in PrestaShop means buttons and shortened payment paths that let a customer place an order without going through the full multi-page purchase process — in one click from the product page, the cart, or with a saved payment method. In stores where cart abandonment reaches 70%, it is one of the most effective conversion changes: shortening the path from 5 steps to 1–2 can recover several percent of orders. Implementing express checkout in PrestaShop usually costs 800–3,000 PLN net, depending on the chosen method and the level of theme integration.

Najważniejsze: Express checkout in PrestaShop is a shortened purchase path: a "Buy Now" button with an order modal, express payments (PayPal, Click to Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, BLIK with a saved number) and PrestaShop 9.2 with its native one-page checkout. Implementation costs 800–3,000 PLN net, and the result is a shorter purchase path and fewer abandoned carts — especially on mobile.

Express checkout vs one-page checkout

It is worth distinguishing two concepts that overlap in practice.

  • Express checkout — a set of shortcuts: quick-buy buttons (Buy Now), one-click payments (Click to Pay, saved card, PayPal Express, Apple Pay, Google Pay) and skipping account registration.
  • One-page checkout (OPC) — the whole order process on a single page: details, delivery and payment in one view (covered in detail in our one-page checkout in PrestaShop guide).

Express checkout can work within a classic multi-step process — as a shortcut at the entrance or the exit. OPC changes the process itself. The best results come from combining both.

When express checkout works best

Not every store benefits equally. It makes the most sense where the purchase decision is fast and repeatable.

  • Stores with returning customers — a saved card or Click to Pay shortens ordering to seconds.

  • Impulse and replenishment purchases — FMCG, cosmetics, accessories, pet food: a "Buy Now" button on the product page.

  • Mobile — on smartphones every extra form hurts twice as much; express checkout and OPC deliver their biggest gains here.

  • Campaigns and landing pages — a fast path to a specific product without distractions.

  • Conversely: in B2B stores with configurators, quote requests or manager approval, express checkout matters less — completeness of data beats speed there.

Which express checkout options exist for PrestaShop?

Solution What it gives Typical implementation cost
"Buy Now" button with a modal Order without leaving the product page 800–2,000 PLN (module)
PrestaShop Checkout with Express Checkout PayPal and card payments in one click 0 PLN (official module, transaction fees)
Click to Pay / saved card Payment without typing card details depends on the provider (Przelewy24, PayU, Stripe)
Apple Pay / Google Pay Wallet payments on mobile within the payment gateway
BLIK with a saved number Poland's most popular method in 2 clicks within the payment gateway

Most gateways running on PrestaShop (Przelewy24, PayU, Tpay, Stripe) offer express variants today — see our Przelewy24 in PrestaShop guide.

Implementing express checkout step by step

  1. Analyse the purchase path — session recordings (Clarity, Hotjar) and abandonment statistics show where customers stop.
  2. Choose the variant — a Buy Now button, express payments in the gateway, OPC, or a combination; on PrestaShop 9.2 check the native one-page checkout first.
  3. Configure the module and gateway — enable express methods, test in the provider's sandbox.
  4. Integrate with the theme — the button on the product page and in the cart must look like part of the store, not a bolted-on element.
  5. Analytics — GA4 events for express checkout separate from the standard one; without that you cannot measure the effect.
  6. Tests and measurement — an A/B test where traffic allows; otherwise before/after on conversion and cart value.

Implementation with an experienced vendor is usually 1–3 business days for the module variant and 1–2 weeks for theme modifications and custom gateways.

Risks and pitfalls

  • Express checkout without complete data — the shortened path must not break obligations: order confirmation, delivery information and the right of withdrawal. Make sure transactional emails and content meet Omnibus and GDPR requirements.
  • Conflicts with modules — extra fields (e.g. a VAT number for invoices) can break the express form; test every combination.
  • Too much express — customers must also be able to order "normally"; forcing the shortcut can backfire.
  • Express payments without back-office — refunds and complaints in wallet payments require handling in the provider's panel; plan the process.

How much does express checkout cost?

Scope Price (net)
Configuring express methods in an existing gateway 500–1,000 PLN
"Buy Now" module with theme integration 800–2,000 PLN
Custom express checkout (design + implementation) 2,000–5,000 PLN
Audit and optimisation of the whole purchase process 1,000–3,000 PLN

If the checkout itself is slow, shortening the path is not enough — see PrestaShop performance optimisation. The wider context of growing a store is in our e-commerce store development guide, and sales integrations in the e-commerce integrations service.

Frequently asked questions

Does express checkout really increase conversion?

In stores with a long purchase path and high abandonment — yes, it is one of the most effective changes. Shortening ordering from 5 steps to 1–2 and adding one-click payments can recover several percent of orders, especially on mobile. The effect depends on the assortment: it is largest for impulse purchases.

Does PrestaShop 9.2 have a native one-page checkout?

Yes — PrestaShop 9.2 introduced a native one-page checkout, enabled in the back office (Design > Checkout), with the option to switch back to the classic four-page process. It is the safest route for stores on 9.x; older versions need a module or theme modification.

Does express checkout require a customer account?

No — good express checkout works for guests: order without registration, with an option to create an account after purchase. Forcing registration is one of the most common causes of abandonment; leave the choice to the customer.

Which express payment methods make sense in a Polish store?

BLIK (with a saved number), Apple Pay and Google Pay for mobile, and Click to Pay for cards are the standard today. Add PayPal Express for foreign customers. Methods are implemented within the gateway — check what your provider offers: Przelewy24 in PrestaShop.

Can a "Buy Now" module break the store?

A badly built module can break the cart, taxes or stock levels with parallel orders. Choose modules with updates for your PrestaShop version and test the end-to-end path: add to cart, payment, email, invoice, stock level.

How long does implementation take?

Configuring express methods in an existing gateway takes 1–2 days. A "Buy Now" module with theme integration — from a few days to 2 weeks. A custom checkout with design — 2–4 weeks. Testing, not implementation, is what takes the time.
